You have just spent the last few days dissecting a new niche. You know that you now need to either fill your new niche blog with articles or need articles to post to the article directories. You sit down at your computer, pull up your favorite word processor. Now what do you write?

Your computer screen just sits there mocking you: Come on … write something … Ugh.

Writer’s block has just hit. All that research sitting there and you do not have a clue where to start. Your brain is frozen and you need to thaw it.

Luckily over the years I have developed a few tricks that I use to overcome writer’s block. They may not work for you, but they have helped me get back in the flow of writing. I hope that they may help you.

Just Write What Pops In Your Head.

I know that seems way too simplistic. In truth, this simple practice has gotten my writing juice flowing on more than a few occasions.

We are talking full on stream of consciousness here. Just start typing. If you remember that you need to pick up milk at the grocery, write it down. Don’t edit yourself. Don’t think, just type what comes in your head.

I have found that by applying this simple practice that after a while you get all the other junk out of your head that is preventing you from writing in the first place. After a few minutes, your mind seems to get focused and the drivel that was preventing you from writing gets resolved and your mind will come back into focus.

And on a plus note, you now have your shopping list done. :)

Ask Niche Related Questions

This is the strategy that works best for me when I am trying to come up with ideas for article directories. I pull my word processor and start writing questions relevant to my niche.

Lets say for example I was writing about dieting. I would start typing out questions like:

Is a 1200 calorie diet safe?

How do I calculate my BMI?

Spend 5-10 minutes doing this and I guarantee you will have a list to turn into articles.

I also find this a useful practice to follow before I even research a niche. I then have a good list of what I am looking for answers to. If I am looking for the answers, then other people are as well.

Do Something Exhausting

Go for a run. Go for a swim. Clean the house. Do anything that when you are done you are absolutely exhausted.

I have found that this helps me shut down my brain for a while. The physical exertion causes your body to want to sit down on the couch with a drink and relax. It is in this state when my brain will finally calm down and focus. You are too tired to let all the other stuff in your brain get in the way.

Have any of your own tricks that help you overcome writer’s block? Please share them.
